HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2013

MEDUSA!

*The Headpiece*
 ...is rather heavy.
I used 3 wire hangers to make up the base.
Then I used 5+ rubber snakes and 4 smaller snakes, and wired them onto the base.
Spray painted everything black (had previously painted the snakes black),
Used my Medusa dread falls (that I made) and wrapped those into the headpiece.
I read somewhere that Medusa liked shinny things....so, I hit up many yard sales and my own stash to find pieces.

*The Makeup*
Fishnet stocking over forehead.
I used Halloween black to dab on and then used glitter black powder to set it.
*The Eyes*
White upper lids.
Elmers glue + White glitter.
Dark purple in the crease and a lighter for under the brow.
Light pink lipstick + purple eye shadow to set and color lips.

*Hair*
Put hair in pigtails.
Put on 2 dread falls per side.
Headpiece.
Then used the other dread falls to balance the headpiece in place.
*Medusa dread falls - I braided the wavy yarn together in sections.  Then added any lil shiny bits to it.  THEN dropped into boiling water for a few seconds. Pulled out and let air dry for a few hours (days really, only cause I hadn't felt like messing with them sooner). Then strung onto another piece of yarn (like you do putting together dread falls normally).

*Black dress*

Last Minute Makeup

Had a Halloween Harvest Festival to take the boys to, but I didn't want to use my costume for this year.
I took the wire crown I made.
DreadFalls from a couple years ago...
And
Makeup!
I don't know what I was?
A Clown?
Goth Clown?
I don't know.
*The MAKEUP*

Water down liquid liner in my palm using a makeup brush (cheap one).
Lined the lower lids -
adding more water in the spots where I wanted it to run.

It was reading Dark and Moody and since the event was a kids thing, I wanted it to be more playful.

I went back over the runs w/ purple eyeshadow and then went ahead and did the rest of the makeup.
BRIGHT.
COLORFUL.
DRAMATIC.

Still not *playful* enough...
I took Elmer's Glue and painted on over the runs and lower part of the lid.
Then using a Qtip, I dipped that into PINK Glitter and put on the glued spots.
I did the same technique to my upper lid, but with -
White eyeshadow and White glitter.

It was so much fun!
I didn't want to take it off.
