Been busy

Does anyone blog anymore?
I rarely come here to read up on those I follow.
How is everyone?

Well, for me.....I've been busy.
Working a FT job.
Trying to get my art 'out there'.
Joined the local Art Community.
Showing pieces at a local yoga/cycling place.
Enjoying where we live.
Stressing over where we don't.
 Oy.

How is everyone.

Animals can be ghosts too...

It's been 1 year and 6 months since we have lived here.
It's been 18 months of, what is that?
It's been 547.863 days of happenings...
not daily, but happenings nonetheless.

Most recently was yesterday.
I attempted to take a nap in our bedroom.
(It didn't happen, not because of this)
The cats are blocked off in another part of the house.
I shut all the bedroom doors.
I'm in bed.
I feel, what feels like, a cat walking on the bed...
and walking further towards the pillows.
From the feet to the head.

I know there is nothing there, because times before -
before when this would happen, I'd look.
There is never anything there.
Nothing that I can see.

I mentioned this to hubs last night.
He says 'it's funny you say that because...
'last week when you were in here and I was in there, it felt like something sat down on the bed'.

Today, I again, attempt to nap.
Again, today, something walks on the bed (but this time it didn't go from foot to head, but more knee to head).

I relayed this to hubs, and said 'it feels like a cat'.

Yesterday, my first EVER....

Fan 'mail'.

Noticed I had activity on my StarvnRtist FB page.
It was a private message from a COMPLETE STRANGER!

'Hey Amy. I love your work. I get to see it at the studio. Small world...from _____ living in ____now too'.
(some of my work is displayed at a local yoga/spinning studio)

:D

I have the opportunity to...

show my work at a local spinning/yoga studio.
A friend told me to contact a studio owner.
She said he was looking to display local artists, said his studio is more like a gallery than 'gym'.
I contacted him last Wed and on Friday I met with him and willingly left 3 pieces there, with promises to bring more.
When I met with him on Friday, he told me of his visions of having a show (if he can get enough art (all styles)) to showcase. He even called my work 'quality'.  !!!

Today (with hubs help)...

He told us that 1 of the higher ups at Starbucks is a client of his.
'Mothership' aka Starbucks is far left on last pic.

Ordered business cards today (cross your fingers they turn out alright).
So, this is happening...

I'm TERRIFIED!

Zombie Makeup (cause there aren't enough out there)

*I bought a zombie kit, but he wasn't a fan of it*

*zombie makeup TAKE 2*

What you need:
2 ply toilet paper (separate the layers and rip into smaller pieces)
Elmer's Glue
Makeup (regular girlie makeup)

WASH FACE!

Figure out where you want the booboo/scar/tissue damage/wound?

Using your finger, dip into glue and then onto skin (not too much not too little).

Place tissue (piece by piece)
*it will wrinkle, it will roll, it will build up = NO Worries*
Let air Dry or use a blow dryer (on cold)

*Makeup*
I used:
Browns/Yellows/Black/Red or Rust/Green (dark and light)

Browns/Yellows and Black around eyes.

On / Around the wound:
Black/Brown and Red
The rest of the face, add color where you think they belong.

I used the Green as an accent (along hairline, corner of mouth/nose)

I did use the 'blood' that came with the makeup.
It was Green, it was gross...but in the end it was very cool looking.

*his costume was fun to do too*

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2013

MEDUSA!

*The Headpiece*
 ...is rather heavy.
I used 3 wire hangers to make up the base.
Then I used 5+ rubber snakes and 4 smaller snakes, and wired them onto the base.
Spray painted everything black (had previously painted the snakes black),
Used my Medusa dread falls (that I made) and wrapped those into the headpiece.
I read somewhere that Medusa liked shinny things....so, I hit up many yard sales and my own stash to find pieces.

*The Makeup*
Fishnet stocking over forehead.
I used Halloween black to dab on and then used glitter black powder to set it.
*The Eyes*
White upper lids.
Elmers glue + White glitter.
Dark purple in the crease and a lighter for under the brow.
Light pink lipstick + purple eye shadow to set and color lips.

*Hair*
Put hair in pigtails.
Put on 2 dread falls per side.
Headpiece.
Then used the other dread falls to balance the headpiece in place.
*Medusa dread falls - I braided the wavy yarn together in sections.  Then added any lil shiny bits to it.  THEN dropped into boiling water for a few seconds. Pulled out and let air dry for a few hours (days really, only cause I hadn't felt like messing with them sooner). Then strung onto another piece of yarn (like you do putting together dread falls normally).

*Black dress*

Last Minute Makeup

Had a Halloween Harvest Festival to take the boys to, but I didn't want to use my costume for this year.
I took the wire crown I made.
DreadFalls from a couple years ago...
And
Makeup!
I don't know what I was?
A Clown?
Goth Clown?
I don't know.
*The MAKEUP*

Water down liquid liner in my palm using a makeup brush (cheap one).
Lined the lower lids -
adding more water in the spots where I wanted it to run.

It was reading Dark and Moody and since the event was a kids thing, I wanted it to be more playful.

I went back over the runs w/ purple eyeshadow and then went ahead and did the rest of the makeup.
BRIGHT.
COLORFUL.
DRAMATIC.

Still not *playful* enough...
I took Elmer's Glue and painted on over the runs and lower part of the lid.
Then using a Qtip, I dipped that into PINK Glitter and put on the glued spots.
I did the same technique to my upper lid, but with -
White eyeshadow and White glitter.

It was so much fun!
I didn't want to take it off.

Well, my 'experiment' of working again (after 8 years of being a SAHM) came to an end after only 4 months.
I did not walk out.
I did not just Not show up.
Hubs was offered a new job out of state, so...back to being a SAHM.

Theory

Been working there for 7.5 days now.
I've come to a theory.

Some of the natives -
well, you can tell that they aren't really there.

But there is this one -
when she looks at me, she LOOKS at me.

I've heard stories,
hallucinations.
Issues.
I can see that she is depressed.

But, I am wondering if maybe -
MAYBE
it's paranormal.

I mentioned some things to hubs about this and that was the 1st conclusion he came to as well.

I also talked to my boss about this-
spiritual/paranormal/religious conversation we had last night (she started it).
She entertained my theory and said it was a possibility.

New Chapter in My Life

I thought I was done changing diapers and wiping butts.
When Sprout learned to do it, I thought-
'Never Again!'

Time for me to get back out there...
I got a job!
(look at previous post)

It's only been 3 nights.
I am still not sure or confident or know where everything is that I should be doing.
BUT -
I have to tell you,
it is rewarding when a resident looks you in the eye and says -
'Thank You'.

It doesn't happen all the time -
I had 1 person lash out at me..
what do you do?
Stay calm and continue.

It isn't an 'easy' job.
It's almost like babysitting x 13
babysitting a 1 or 2 year old at that.

I don't know if this is 'what I am meant to be doing', it is only day 3.
But - it is a job and in this economy, one can't complain too much.

I have a 'new' title...

...employee.
I haven't been called that in YEARS!

It isn't something I ever saw myself doing.
I basically applied to prove to hubs that I was 'trying',
Who'd a thunk they'd actually hire me!
I mean, I have NO experience in this 'field'.

Well, I have 2 kids -
I guess that's what sold it (me).

It's an old folks home for Dementia and Alzheimer's.
It's gross, but someone has to do it.

It's sad -
the residents often ask 'to go home' or ask for a parent.

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THEM?!?
Calm them down and try to distract them (like you do toddlers).

I've taken a CPR/1st aid class.
I still have to take a 'medication class' -
There is just SO MUCH to learn.

Oh yeah, and I am working the midnight shift.
SO far it seems to work for 'US'.
I am somewhat of a night owl anyway-
and the boys are in school all day...
this way I can sleep (UNINTERRUPTED) for a good 7hrs+
It's only 4 days a week.
