PYREX Trade & Finds

My girlfriend has told me a few times that she likes the browns.
I am not a fan of the browns, but have lots.

I was at her house a couple weeks ago
and saw she has a Large Primary Red Bowl
vs the Yellow.
She says she has never found a yellow
Well WhatDoYouKnow, I have 3.

The other night she had a MNO
(Moms Night Out)
at her house.

I took my extra yellow
Plus 5 pieces of brown to 'sweeten the pot'.
I REALLY wanted the Red.

She Traded!

I am now the proud owner of a Large Red Primary!

Also, I went junking.
Driving by this 1 little yard sale
*little* yard sale -
I saw mostly clothes and started to drive past when...
I see Bright Red followed by White.

I stop.
I pick up.
I ask 'how much?'
.50 cents!
SOLD!

It's in pretty good shape.
The color looks brand new, except...
except for all the scratches on it.
I can look past the scratches tho.

Went to a local thrift shop and bought a
yellow w/ speckled loaf pan.
.75 cents.

SOLD!

Pretty good weekend for Pyrex.
:)

Now, if only I would take pics.

Saturday Finds

There was an estate sale that started yesterday.

For some stupid reason I didn't go.
I didn't go after my girlfriend told me of all the Pyrex,
and I still didn't go after hubs told me of all the 'STUFF'.

Hubs went to it again today.
Girlfriend went to it again today and I was still like....Meh.

FINALLY I went and look what I got for $3.
Yes, I got 4 dinner plate w/ turquoise trim and a yellow, round casserole dish ALL for $3.

*bangs head on wall, wonders why I didn't go yesterday*

------------------------------------

I looked under a couple of the plates when I got'em to make sure they were marked Pyrex.
They are all the same size.
They have the same pattern.
They are the same color.

Coming home from a girls night out, hubs took me into the kitchen to see if I noticed anything-
Yes, he actually did the dishes!
He told me to look close at the Pyrex plates and asked 'do you see anything different'?
No, Not really....
But looking closer, 1 of the plates has more of a blue tint to the pattern.
Also, it is stamped Anchor Hocking.
SAME COLOR. SAME SIZE. SAME PATTERN.

----------------------------------------------
Look what my girlfriend gave me last night!
Same girlfriend that told me to hit up the estate sale.
She knows I just adore the Friendship.
She could have easily kept it for herself, but she gave it to me.
LOVE!

Saturday Find

Pretty huh?
It's a Flamingo Pink Platter (it's huge!)
As you can see it isn't in the best of conditions, but it's my 1st piece so I don't mind
(no chips or cracks, just the pink is scratched).
It's stamped PYREX on the base (restaurant?)
Price - $.92
SCORE!

Jack of All Trades, Master of None

This is the final product of the marshmallow fondant cake. My writing, well...sucks, (hence the title) but have you ever tried to write with a bag of icing and a small tip?
I am most proud of the flowers and the diploma.

IF you decide to try the fondant, my only tip would be to make it and use it the same day. I made mine yesterday and it was a bit of a headache to get it rolled out nice and flat (it was stiff and I had to add a lil water and work that in, before it gave in to what I was asking it to do).

I ask that you be kind when critiquing this (this is my first time playing with fondant).

*I was told that this fondant would not dry enough. But if you roll it out nice and thin, it will dry (mind you still mildly pliable - the petals would move if you tried, but not snap off).

*it wasn't a very large cake, but I wasn't trying to feed an Army....just a few folks. I baked in 2 - 8"x8" (vintage Pyrex) brownie pans. I cut the second layer in half and placed that on the first.

Tuesday Treasures

Went to one of my favorite junk shops today and look what I found...

The measuring cup (is it still considered a 'cup' when it is so large?) It's an eight cup, Anchor Hocking measuring cup in great condition $4.

Also found this beautiful Pyrex, olive green roast pan 2 1/2 QT (is it possible to have too many of these? I have a Town and Country that I really like, but this one is just so pretty that I don't think I can list it). When I say it's beautiful, I mean B-E-A-U-tiful, it's shiny, no chips or cracks, the paint looks to be mint. Beautiful! I got it for $2.

*I went to GoodWill after and found the same measuring cup in worse condition for $6. I laughed and walked away.

Happy Junking!

Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Cookies

Sounds good, huh?

1 Spice cake mix
1 small can of pumpkin (I didn't have a small can, so I just split a large)
chocolate chips

No oil, butter, eggs need be used - just those 3 ingredients. So simple!

Using my loved (DBD = Death By Dishwasher) avocado green, medium size, Pyrex bowl, #403 2 1/2 QT - that I bought from my girlfriends mother-in-law for $.10, this Summer.

I used a spoon to mix it all together (too thick for a whisk).

They were extremely moist. They felt wet even, but fully cooked and Oh. So. Yummy.
I took what was needed to Sprouts Halloween Party and then the rest to hubs at work (to keep me from eating them all myself).
