In a house full of boys - I need some pretty

This is a table leg I got from a friend. The table it came from looked to be like an old Pizza Hut table.

This here table top was an old coffee table that I bought at an antique shop here in town. I've had it for 5 years and did use it as a table once with an old Singer Sewing Machine base, but that didn't lend well to leg room.

For several years now I have wanted to paint this table top. I waited til I got an appropriate sized leg to go with it.

I started by drawing a grid and then sketching in a rose.

Started painting it on Friday...so not happy.

Needs to dry and then get a couple coats of clear on there. Then attach the base (which I painted a hammered bronze).

It doesn't look anything like the picture I had in my head (it would have been several shades of yellow/orange and green). This has more color and I. Like. It.

It is the perfect size for our family of 4.

When pyrex owners go bad...

I have been collecting Pyrex for a couple years now (since everyone was freaking out about plastics). I love them! I use them all the time.

I pick up Pyrex at yard sales and thrift stores...I do not pay more than $5 for any piece.

I have some mint pieces, I have some that have been used and then those that have scratches and the paint is worn...but I have to tell you that my favorites are the ones pictured. These have truly been loved and used. They have also been put in the dishwasher (shame shame).

*if you have vintage pieces USE THEM/ENJOY THEM (why have something that everyone else has?) and HAND WASH them.

Mock Graffiti

This is the room how we have had it for 4+ years (minus all the boxes that I removed ...hubs things).

LOOK nice hardwood floors!

This room has some 'interesting' features...still don't know why some of the things are in there - Hoss will just have to live with them for now.

AFTER sanding the walls and floor.

Lots and lots of primer...

I wanted a 'clean' room...I picked out a light grey for the walls - the color they gave me looked more like an off-white, so I added a few drops/globs of black to it. The floor is also a dark grey.

The window has a few issues, so I painted around that (looks bad, but oh well). I will get to the window when I get to it.

The boys love to look at the graffiti on the trains that go by (hubs even takes his camera)...I looked threw pages of pages of graffiti art and couldn't find anything that I was willing to attempt (being that this is my first)...everything was detailed or not appropriate for a 7y/o room (IMO). I took my sons first name (Yes, folks that IS his REAL name and WE LOVE IT!) Then to keep it 'light' I added bubbles.

Near the finish line ... tweaking here and there ... outlined his name in black paint.

Hubs says the runs look more realistic to graffiti...so I added more, putting a lot of paint in areas and letting it do its thing.

So, this is my first attempt at mock graffiti and I LOVE IT!

*this was a big milestone for me...I haven't been 'creative/artistic' since ma's death in Oct '09 (she and I had that in common - we are both creative people...if she was stonewalled she could ask me for help or ideas and I could run ideas off her as well)...I haven't painted and I haven't really been the camera whore (hubs words---I like to take a BUNCH of pictures - Thank God for the digital camera!) So, this is me re-entering the world of creativity!

11 months out

I am down 55LBS!

I haven't been this 'small' in about 8 years!!!

I was told I should be eating 1000-1200 cals per day...gunna have to check that out and see exactly what I am taking in. My nurse said that she is content with me eating 6oz per meal if I am...I AM, makes me feel like a 'normal' person.

I ate pineapple chunks last night and it took forever to go down...not good (pineapple along with several other foods we are told to stay away from).

I am so thankful for the Band...God only knows what I would look like today had I not taking the first steps last Spring and go talk to my Doctor.

I must be CRAZY!

Yesterday, I did my first official 10k *walk* up hill and down hill, down hill and up hill, finished in 1 hr 38 min. My girlfriend was kind enough to stay with me the entire time even tho, I think she could have finished a good bit before me.

Man, can I feel it today! Ow!

Next race July 10.

Jealous, huh?!?

Yes, that is Corey Feldman and his "band" the Truth Movement.

Sorry all these pictures are out of order.

So, Tuesday evening (6/1/10) my girlfriend texted me that he was in town and she wanted someone to go with her. I had told her no thanks, but as you can see - I ended up going anyway...it was rather entertaining and not for his 'music'.

The club he was playing at was big (for small town USA, it was big). Too bad the folks that came to see him play only took up maybe 1/4 of the room. Yeah, there was maybe 40 people there. Sad.
