Sandbox Cover

The boys came running in saying 'it's hot'.
Me thinking to myself 'oh no no....it's a nice day, I'm gunna fix this'.

Took some fabric I already had.
Tubing (previous project)

Rebar (previous project)
15 minutes on the sewing machine.
BAM = cover
I doubt the fabric will last, but it will work for now.

Fabric 'sleeve' over the tubing
tubing goes over the rebar

Thrift Finds

Found at Goodwill today.
Canco copper tub (no lid) $13
It's not perfect, but I can't complain for the price.
Beautiful Blue divided dish $2!
*I try not to buy Pyrex anymore
UNLESS I like the color/pattern
this is the 2nd piece I've bought since ridding myself of all my extras, a year ago*
(I found a large, Cinderella, turquoise and white, Butterprint bowl at another store for $1.50, but I left it there)
Also, picked up a metal milk crate for $2

Not bad, not bad.

Uglies - Scott Westerfeld

Uglies (Uglies, #1)Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

1st: this book would be GREAT for kids to read (middle/high).

It's big on how one sees themselves and others. Looks are everything. To be happy, you have to be pretty. To be *normal* is shunned and to think for yourself is just not allowed.

I did not love nor did I hate this book.

I was halfway done with it when I wanted to put it down and not look back at it, but I was determined to finish. It gets better at or around ch. DAVID.

*My biggest issue is that Tally thinks she is ugly - only because she was brought up to think she is ugly as is everyone else. So, she was absolute in thinking that once she was 'pretty' (via a surgery) that everything would be better and she would be happy*

It's a Sign!

Hubs got this yesterday at an estate sale...

and now it's hanging in the living room.

Anyone out there in the 'WWW' that knows anything about it?
We've googled and searched, but only came across 1 other
(that wasn't in the best shape and repainted).

Cult of Crime - Hardy Boys: Casefiles #3

Cult of Crime (Hardy Boys: Casefiles, #3)Cult of Crime by Franklin W. Dixon

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I enjoyed Nancy Drew as a kid -

I got this book, thinking that my 9y/o would like it. Of course, he could read it after I finished it. I'm done and he can so have it. Maybe he will enjoy it.

Everlasting (Kissed by an Angel #5)

Everlasting (Kissed by an Angel, #5)Everlasting by Elizabeth Chandler

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I don't know how I feel about this book. Over all I give it a 3.5. Too many unanswered questions and too many new questions. Is there a #6?

Fever - Joan Swan

Fever (Phoenix Rising, #1)Fever by Joan Swan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hmm, I wasn't keen on the racial slurs going around the first part of the book (skinhead-ish).

Interesting storyline.

Can't go wrong w/ Firefighters.

Some 'heat'.

Gov't 'experiment' that turned some paranormal = interesting.

I enjoyed it.

The Woman in Black

The Woman in Black (Movie Tie-in Edition): A Ghost StoryThe Woman in Black (Movie Tie-in Edition): A Ghost Story by Susan Hill

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was eager to read this book (the movie looks good). Thought to myself 'the books are always better'. Except in this case, dare I say that the movie may be better.

*short book, 164 pages*

1 thing I loath is lots of detail and there is quiet a bit in this book. Usually, I wouldn't be able to finish the book, but since it was 'good enough' for a movie, I figured I should finish.

The book is from the viewpoint of 1 man and his time at ___________ and the people he encountered. It's his personal 'ghost story'.

I guess maybe I've read a few 'true ghost stories' in my life for me to be not so impressed with this one.

No bloody gore, no murder - just 1 mans story.

The last 3 chapters got a little better and as always a twist at the end.

*I still want to see the movie and HOPE that it is better than the book*
